About the Sewing Group
We have been meeting for 49 years. In all these years, thousands of quilts have been assembled and delivered to those in need.
When we meet, we just assemble the quilts. They consist of three layers. The tops and the bottoms are made at home and then brought in to have the middle inserted, then pinned and then knotted. There are different tables doing the different jobs, usually working together. The quilts are then taken home and hemmed by machine and then they are ready to be distributed. So really, we don’t sew at the church. We say, if you tie a knot, you can help complete a quilt.
Most of our quilts are given to several local agencies in Hanover and York. We have also given to fire and hurricane victims, people living on the streets, and mission trips. Some found their way to Ukraine, Tanzania, and Church World Service.
The need is great, and we are getting request for more and more quilts all the time. We try to reach out to our neighbors in need, but we need more help. Anyone is welcome to come to see what we do and what you can do to help. There are jobs for everyone.
If you are interested in helping, or wanting more information, please contact our church office.

Blankets and Quilts 2025
One of the loveliest Sundays of the year is when the handiwork of the Stone Church Quilting Group is laid out in the Sanctuary to be admired and blessed. These blankets and quilts will provide warmth and a concrete example of God’s love for people who have been displaced from their homes.
